Rick Mac was always an active, mindful, and confident man. He had experienced success in his professional career in finance. For the last 20 years of his life Rick ran an insurance brokerage. He went to the gym five days a week, and he played sports, such as hockey. He was organizing his Mens’ Hockey League by putting the schedule together as well as making jerseys. He had also been an avid reader.

He was side-swiped when his biopsy showed large B cell lymphoma. On November 28, 2018, Rick Mac was admitted to Cornell Medical Hospital, where he would fight for his health. After he enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday, he spent a week in the hospital beginning intense treatment. Over a difficult 5 month ordeal, Rick faced 6 rounds of chemotherapy. By the time he was done on March 12, 2019, Rick had lost his hair and a lot of weight.

The most grueling part of his healing journey was over, and Rick felt very good about that, but unfortunately the process had actually still given him more to overcome. Even more, than a year after chemo and drugs wreaked havoc on his system, Rick felt as if he was in a fog. His hair didn’t bounce back like he thought it would, and the way he saw himself didn’t feel like what it once was. With his renewed outlook on his life, Rick reevaluated all the aspects. He had the drive to transform himself from his hardship, and arise like the phoenix. His foundational priority was to make himself look and feel his best.

Then Rick met Taylor Perry, who introduced him to SMP — Scalp Micropigmentation. When he looked in the mirror after getting this procedure done, he felt very emotional. Rick describes it as an “AHA moment” because it guided him in the direction he feels he’s heading in now. The magic of that moment is something he wanted to spread because it renewed his confidence on such a substantial level.

When Rick reached back out to Taylor for his touch-up in the summer of 2019, Taylor conveniently had an opening in his SMP class at the same time. The serendipity paved an aligned path for Rick. He was also closing on a house at the time, so it was really the beginning of an exciting new chapter. In November of 2020, Taylor came to New York, and they started working together, doing SMP on people’s heads and changing lives. Destiny is realized with Rick providing the very procedure that had been so instrumental in getting him over the last threshold in his healing journey.
